🍃 Acorn Play Activities

Our aim is to get more young children connecting with and developing a deep love for nature, in an environment that helps them to learn through adventure and play. Some activities include:

  • Water and sensory play
  • Loose parts play and natural construction
  • Scavenger hunts and adventurer role play
  • Mindfulness- hammocks, forest bathing and stories
  • Sound and instrument exploration
  • Transient art and mud painting
  • Nature craft- e.g. ribbon wands, flower crowns, leaf kebabs
  • Campfires
  • Free exploration of the beautiful red cedar tree base camp
  • Singing, dancing, movement and drama
  • Snack time (included in price and often cooked on the campfire)

We mirror the Forest School ethos and its Scandinavian roots, while weaving elements of the Early Years Curriculum into our activities. Our holistic approach invites children to freely follow their curiosities alongside others, make new discoveries using natural resources and open-ended activities, and learn simple bush-craft that stimulates imagination and creativity.

🍃 Who is Acorn Play?

The session includes a welcome wake up and together time, where children can engage in a range of music, singing, storytelling, dance, movement and drama.
