2017 Open Day review: Airport Open Day success

"Apart from one shower in the afternoon, the recent spell of heavy rain held off to make the Gloucestershire Airport Open Day a great success. Thousands of people spent the day at the charity event wandering around what normally would be closed off to the public including the hangar and aircraft parking areas. A fantastic family event with so much to see and do including the Army and RAF stands which included a flight simulator. Helicopter rides were very popular as well as the ice cream van! A very popular attraction (apart from Douglas Bear) was definitely the BBMF Hurricane and Spitfire. The icing on the cake was having them land and park close to the crowd. Fly2help are very grateful to their home based airport for their support throughout the year but to put together such a fantastic event all in aid of the charity is above and beyond what is expected. It was a great opportunity to make so many more people aware of the charity. We are looking forward to announcing the final total of money raised and we are extremely grateful for everyones support."
