This August Bank Holiday weekend seems to be THE weekend to have a knees up, especially if you’re a pub. Maybe it’s because there’s a reasonable chance of some good weather. Maybe it’s the Bank Holiday. Maybe it’s the looming new school term. Whatever the reason, we’re spoilt for choice and that’s fine by us.

Here’s a shortlist of fun days, festivals and fiestas happening at pubs in Cheltenham.

One of the great things about a fun day at a pub is the fact that there’s somewhere dry to go if it rains. Oh, and the wine.

Cider, Wine and Live Music Festival at The Kings Head, Bishops Cleeve – Friday 26th – Sunday 28th August
There’s an incredible line up of great music at The Kings Head, Bishops Cleeve this weekend plus a bouncy castle and face-painting for the kids.

Cider and Cheese Festival at The Royal Oak Inn, Prestbury, Friday 26th – Monday 29th August
20 ciders and 12 cheeses are on offer at the Royal Oak Cider and Cheese Festival. With the garden and pavilion open to all.

Fun Day at the London Inn – Saturday 27th August
With a BBQ and Pimm’s for the adults and a tea party and bouncy castle for the kids, the London Inn Fun Day should be a good day out if the weather stays dry. The action is rounded off with live music from Steamroller at 9pm.

Charity Fun Day at the House in the Tree – Saturday 27th August
Daytime activities include donkey rides, face-painting and a bouncy castle and there’s live music in the evening from Mrs Peel.

The Hewlett Summer Fiesta – Saturday 27th August
There’s lots for the kids at the Hewlett this Saturday with a bouncy castle, colouring area, face-painting plus a visit from the Music Man.

Super Cider Sunday at the Wheatsheaf – Sunday 28th August
There’s live music, a BBQ, bubble machine and The Music Man (again!) at the Wheatsheaf this Bank Holiday Sunday 28th August.

The Royal Summer Festival – Sunday 28th – Monday 29th August
Thrill Collins headline a spectacular line-up of live music at The Royal Summer Festival which also features a magician, dog show, face-painting and The Music Man (busy chap).

For the day-trippers there’s lots more going on slightly out of town including the Winchcombe Country Show and Gloucester Rugby Beach Weekender at Gloucester Quays.
