Initially planned for a 2017 opening, the new John Lewis for Cheltenham has been delayed by around 6 months because of a “contractual wrangle”.
Taking the place of the former Beechwood Shopping Centre, the new store will create around 250 jobs.
The mega-popular noodle chain set pulses racing in October 2016 when they included Cheltenham amongst the restaurants ‘opening soon’ on their jobs page. The note has now been removed which could be down to legal stuff but rumours are that plans are still afoot and the new restaurant will be opening near Boston Tea Party on Clarence Street.
Whilst no exact details have been confirmed, the expectation is, Zara is heading for Cheltenham. The company has said they would very much like to open a store in the town and have been looking at premises as they come up. The Cheltenham Zara needs to be pretty big to house a ladies’, men’s and kids’ range. If you know of a suitable venue, do us all a favour and tell the Zara property team – stat!
